We have exciting news to share! FAST now has a dedicated space to call home—the FAST House! This incredible opportunity allows us to expand our support for autism families in a place designed for connection, comfort, and community.
A House with a History
Our new space was previously known as Megan’s House, a respite home operated by Easterseals.
For years, this house in Valdosta was a place where families could leave their loved ones in specialized, caring hands to take a short pause from their responsibilities. This respite care gave parents & caregivers much needed time to recharge with peace of mind knowing their child was in good hands. Unfortunately, like so many things, the Valdosta location closed its doors a few years ago. Now, FAST has the chance to breathe new life into the house and continue its legacy through our own mission of care and support for the local Autism community!
Overcoming Setbacks
As with any new endeavor, there have been a few bumps along the way—some quite literal! We initially planned on moving in a few months before the new year, but Hurricane Helene decided to test our resilience by sending a few trees crashing onto the house before we even got the key!
Thanks to our wonderful landlord quickly getting repairs in motion & some dedicated helping hands, we are slowly but surely getting everything set up! We officially started moving in January 1st!
A Space for Growth
The FAST House will serve as the hub for our mission. It will not only be the site of our office & board meetings, but also events for our families such as music therapies, support groups, social gatherings, and much more! Having a dedicated location means we can create a welcoming space for caregivers and families to come together, share their experiences, and find the resources they need. We also have big ideas for the future!
As we continue to make improvements and bring the FAST House to life, we look forward to making many meaningful memories here. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey.
